Dr. Mike Voight

Mike Voight, Ph.D., CSCS, is a premier sport psychology-performance consultant with extensive experience working with athletes and teams from all types and levels of competitive sport. Mike has had the privilege of working with many collegiate, elite, Olympic, and professional athletes. Some notables include college and professional national champions, junior/national team soccer and volleyball players, Olympic athletes from diving, figure skating, and volleyball, and professional athletes from volleyball, hockey, basketball, soccer, and golf, as well as a Heisman trophy winner.

Mike currently is an Assistant Professor in the Physical Education and Human Performance Department at Central Connecticut State University. Mike was previously a lecturer in the Physical Education Department and Kinesiology Departments at the University of Southern California and Cal State University-Fullerton. He has been the sport psychology-performance consultant for USC for 11 years, having worked with athletes and coaches from volleyball, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, rowing, golf, tennis, swimming, water polo, and diving teams. One of his teams, the USC women’s volleyball team, repeated as National Champion (2002, 2003). He continues to work with the USC Women’s Volleyball program. Mike is a certified sport psychology consultant (AAASP-CC), and a certified strength and conditioning specialists (CSCS), and a former Division I collegiate coach, and Division II student-athlete.

Along with his private consulting practice in Western Massachusettes, he has been a speaker and consultant to top Division I universities throughout the nation, including Harvard , Texas , Vanderbilt , Oregon State, Southeastern Louisiana University, South Carolina , UNC Charlotte, CAL, Rutgers , UMASS, and UT Chattanooga. He has been fortunate to present to and consult with coaching staffs from the collegiate and professional ranks, such as the Los Angeles Kings (NHL), New York Liberty, Washington Mystics (WNBA), and WM Pioneers (D3).

Dr. Voight is an editorial board member for a sport science/coaching journal and a reviewer for an applied research journal. Additionally, he publishes original research and articles in sport psychology, sport science, and coaching journals, as well as being a speaker at national and international conferences. Additionally, he is the series editor for a complete line of mental toughness training books through Coaches Choice Publishers, and developed DVDs on self-talk, team building, and coaching today’s athletes through Championship Productions. An educator, researcher, presenter, writer, and applied practitioner, he is listed in the United States Olympic Committee’s Sport Psychology Registry .
